Hi all,

First, I know almost nada about towing.

Kia has come out with the EV6 with an over 300 mile range.

It has a towing capacity of 1600 KG (3527 lb).

Share your thoughts?
Regards, Don

It's almost as if a notification goes out to certain people every time the 2 letters E & V are connected together as an abbreviation! LOL

Hi Don. Depends what you are towing. If you are towing a 1200 kg or less teardrop trailer with good aerodynamics and you are keeping it 90 kmh or less probably plan on losing half the guided range and then everything else is a bonus. That EV6 has similar specs to a Tesla model Y. Most of the model Y drivers that are towing that we have talked to follow those guidelines and are not disappointed.

Having said that, we are in BC. Speed limits are lower and roads are whindy and hilly, so towing over 90 is kind of rare unless you like to live dangerously. Campgrounds are close and lots of them. As well charging infrastructure is very good. Not sure what itโ€™s like where you are but keep all that in mind. Depending on where and how you camp it may suit your needs fine. But if long regular hauls are in your future then maybe a half ton with a big tank is better suited to the job.

All JMHO Don. Not an expert.

Oh, and I predict up to 3 people will defend it's honor and claimed abilities, to a fault, and those 3 likely wouldn't know a tow vehicle from toe jamb. Would say 4 but Reisender doesn't post much here anymore....
While everyone else calls it what it is, an electric grocery getter!

Gettin cabin fever up 'der already? Time to stir the pot a little, eh?

I'll bite.
0-60 claimed 4.6sec means it's the equivalent of an honest 400hp car that size. Power won't be an issue.
Otherwise it will be a typical mid-size crossover with no meaningful payload, a drivetrain designed to move 4 people and some soccer gear topped with a few bags of organic gmo free groceries from Whole Foods, not a trailer requiring a much higher duty cycle on everything that is a moving part and probably have to find a charger every 100miles so as to not risk a big box of dead Duracells in the middle of nowhere.

Or in short, who cares?
