The first thing you need to know is whether the problem is in the truck or the trailer.

To test this you will have to know about "electrical things." Since at a minimum you will need to use a multi meter or a test light I suggest you take your trailer to a shop and get it fixed. On face value it's going to be an easy fix so it should be cheap to fix.

Check for voltage at the contact in the truck receptacle. You can find the diagram at etrailer.com. If you have voltage, then the trailer is the problem and that often is a bad connection in the plug.

Look in your owners manual for fuse block and location of fuse within the fuse block. Use your test light to test fuse with the lights on. Test light should come on when touching both test points on the fuse. If you don't have a test light, go to NAPA, Auto Zone or almost any big parts store and ask for help testing a fuse.
