VLA Very Large Array Radio Telescope

If you're interested,here's my brief stop to see the VLA. It's BIG,spread out over a great distance in a Y formation. It's in a remote location to minimize electronic interference, located in a high mountain valley surrounded by mountains for greater protection. Altitude and thinner atmosphere help with functionality. Listens to radio signals from space and is used by NASA to communicate with distant space vehicles. Compare to the size of cattle in the surrounding fields. Enjoy...

We were there a few years ago and lucky enough that the visitor center was open for tours. We were even allowed right up close to dish, and they ARE very large.

I've been wanting to see the VLA for years but never got out there.
