A 30' trailer is at the upper limits of many 1/2 ton trucks and over the limits on some. You will need to be very careful buying in the 1/2 ton arena. Prime example would be F150. There are versions, with as little as 750 lbs payload, and 5000 lb tow capacity. Not enough to handle a 30 foot trailer. And, there are versions, with almost the same payload / tow capacity as an F250. Not all F150's are created equal. Same conditions exist with other manufacturers. Depending on trim levels, they can have a wide variation in capabilities.
Give yourself some breathing room and start your search with 3/4 tons.
