Where to put my ATV

Hello all! I am new to the forums. I have looked a lot but have not found a thread dedicated to pulling a TT and hauling an ATV in a shortbed pickup. I have a 2005 Ford Crew Cab with 5.5' bed and a 09 Jayco 22FB. I am running an weight distribution hitch but I can barely get my tailgate open to access the back without hitting the jack when hooked up and facing straight. My original thought was to haul my Can am Max Machine(95"long) in the back with the tailgate down while hooked up but I realize now that that is not going to happen without some serious modification. I am wondering if anyone else pulls a TT with the tailgate down, and how they get the extra hitch length. I fear running a hitch extender will put too much stress on the hitch, but I am not sure about that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have not had to do that, I do have room between the open tail gate and electric tongue hitch to run that way, have you considered a toy hauler?

Not trying to spend your money but if your camping is centered around your ATV it may be worth the investment.

To get a toyhauler that my 1/2 ton can pull and get enough living space is a challenge. There are a couple 29 foot model that claim they are made for a half ton but my old ford with 155k on it is not going to be pulling close to 9000lbs if I have anything to do with it. We literally just purchased out TT so upgrading would not be ideal. I did find on another forum the idea of using a tailgate made for a 5th wheel. It give the jack room to move but still supports the reat tires of ATV. Is there a thread on here dedicated to triple-towing or not? I have found a lot of mentions of Triple but none with the info I am looking for. The wife doesn't like the Triple towing Idea anyways.

Howdy. Don't know how it was done but I saw an atv on a ramp halfway up the cab secured to the bed of truck. Looked like the the rest of truck bed was available for further storage. My guess is the atv had to be winched (?) up there. And it looked like was a short bed truck.
