Why did you decide to buy new instead of used trailer?

Because of the drive-off-the-lot-depreciation with a new trailer, we would like to find a good, used TT, but are just not finding any good ones that meet our needs. I have been looking at a lot of them on CL and have become leery of the claims of perfect condition when I see delamination or inside damage in their photos.

Did you choose new over used to avoid problems hidden by previous owners, or was it to get a trailer built for your needs, or something different?

Wow! I really like those trailers. The closest dealer is in Colorado though.

Road trip !!!

The camper I have right now, I traveled over 600 miles to buy. Worth it to me to go as far as needed to get "the one I want".

Maybe next year. We don't have any free time until at least early spring next year.

Bought a used POP-UP and camped five years.

Pretty sure we knew what we wanted so we bought new. Probably a few options we would have done different but has served well for 12 years running. Of course no option choices with used. Back once for minor issues on the factory warranty and the rest I have repaired myself since.

The less I go to a dealer the better.

Different folks obviously have different opinions on this, but for me personally, the dealer means absolutely nothing. I'm buying a camper, I'm not buying a dealer. I would not let them work on it anyway, so I don't even care about their warranty. I fix my own stuff.

My brother bought Outdoors RV travel trailer in Colorado, he is not happy with dealer, but really likes the trailer and has received great support from mfg.

Sorry to have thrown a wrench in the plans, I'm just passionate about quality of construction, and they seemed like a good fit (pun intended) for your needs.

Did you call Thompson RV?

I've had good experiences with them so far, they have a great story to tell.

Hmmm, don't give up yet. If the Northwood settled the height issue, but didn't' fit the truck, why not take a look at the Outdoors RV Black Rock?

Wow! I really like those trailers. The closest dealer is in Colorado though. There is a 25 foot one, with one slide that would be a great fit for us too if the shower is tall enough. It should be if the inside height is 6'11". But it shows the only dealer for that is in Oregon! Why did you have to show me that?!!! I tried calling that dealer to see how much they are, but it went to voice mail and I haven't gotten a call back.

I have some input here, we looked for a t/t for about 6 mo. during the winter and just couldn't find anything that we really liked. i'm a nitpicker so it has to be nice. so I see a 05 27' Fleetwood Pegasus on crags list about a 100 miles away. I told the wife that old but lets go look at it, the owner said it was nice. the trailer is perfect other that a few small bubbles on the slide skin. been stored inside most of its life.it has many upgrades and is cleaner than a new one not one scratch inside. I got this trailer for 2/3 less than a new one. that's a good chunk of change. I would really have to be pressed to buy a new one. a lot of our friends that have new T/T or other have nothing but problems and spend most of there time fighting with dealers to get them fixed or when they can get them fixed.i would keep looking for a deal on a used one, winter time is when to buy. there are good used ones out there.

I bought used by one year. I saved a lot of money. I use that money on my boat which I bought new. Boats always need money.;)

I purchased this rig new because it's my 3rd rig and I knew exactly what I wanted, the color, the floor plan, and price .When the new models came out I was at the dealer with cash in hand for the leftover model. Money talks

I bought new because everyone thinks you price a used RV off of MSRP. I bought my 07 new in 06. Paid 22k for it, MSRP was $31k if IIRC. We looked at other that were 2 years old and only a thousand less. I remember looking at MH's a few years ago that I could've paid $89k for new. 2 years later people and dealers were asking the same price! Which is why they are always sitting and never get sold. When I bring that up to a dealer they say "no these never sold for that"!

Unless it's a really good deal, I will always buy an RV new!

That was one other reason why I bought new at the big winter RV Show we have every year. I only paid 11k for the trailer. Got home from the show and did some looking and most dealers had the same trailer for 18K+. Plus, being it was exactly what we were looking for was just a bonus.

I bought new because my 2014 model was not sold yet and only 1 year and it was listed as a 2015

Like others have mentioned, I priced a lot of used ones back in the day and the price difference wasn't all that much, I'm assuming these people still owed a lot and were trying to recoup their losses. But I wasn't about to pay $18,000 for a 4 year old trailer when I can get a brand new one for $20,000 same model and length.
