Solar Eclipse April 8th Viewing locations

We will be heading to Waco, TX. To view the April 8th solar Eclipse. Waco happens to be nearly dead center. Is anyone familiar with Texas and the ecliptic path who can recommend a decent camp area to view the event, preferably on the top of a rise and a flat horizon. Waco is a start point, we can move SW or NE for a best location.

This is the last eclipse in North America for the next 20 years, probably the last in my lifetime.

Thanks in advance.

Many campgrounds in the main path have been fully booked for months, so you may find yourself calling around.  Three months ago I called campgrounds in Arkansas to find availability for the end of April, and they all said they were booked solid during the week of the eclipse but had plenty of vacancies on either side of that week.  I was shocked that the eclipse was that popular.

We went to the Annular Eclipse in Albuquerque and found great camping in city but we also made it to the event at the balloon festival grounds.  We got there late but all worked out perfectly. Positive thinking.
