Coach House comes close (not a Bigfoot) to being able to do some winter camping as the pipes (except the sewer dump) are inside the coach and can be reasonably protected from freezing and most used units do have heated tanks. We do like the layout of the twin bed model of the Isata and the fact that the slide opens up more so there is more room in that part of the RV. So, the ability to do limited cold weather camping may be the deciding factor. Thoughts?Re: Tankless water heater itguy08 wrote: KenMast wrote: However, this keeps the wife happy. That makes it a necessity and well worth it. I love it too. That right there makes it worth whatever they are charging! :) That is why I installed it. Had nothing to do with any ROI but rather a lifestyle choice. We simply did not want "camping showers."Re: Best years for Sprinter based used motorhomesGreat feedback. TYRe: Generator hours - when is it too much? Thanks for the guidance so far. I am looking to possibly purchase an older motorhome so I do not know yet what generator it might have so am looking for good "rules of thumb" to guide my process. I have seen postings of 10+ year old motorhomes with generator hours less than 50 ...Generator hours - when is it too much?I have seen the posts on what to look for when the generator has low hours. I am interested in your thoughts on high hours. How many hours are too much and when do the hours signal time to budget for a new generator? Let's presume average maintenance has been done.Re: RV tankless water heaterI have posted often in these forums how satisfied I have been with the Truma Comfort on demand hot water heater. It has NONE of the problems others have commented on including using more propane. My experience with the Truma is that I got instant hot water while I had to wait for 30 minutes to get my 6 gallon hot water heater to completely heat up. I had no water flow issues or fluctuating temps issues when hooked up at a camp ground. The only downside is that it is very expensive.Re: Unsatisfactory Behavior of Tankless Water HeaterI just sold my trailer that I installed the Truma on demand hot water heater. Simply stated, it works perfectly. I am now looking for a class B or C and will get a Truma again.Best years for Sprinter based used motorhomesI cannot afford a new class C Sprinter based motorhome so am looking at used ones. What past years would you encourage me to look at, which ones to avoid, and your reasons why would be great for me and other readers of this thread.Re: Hard numbers on MPG. rexlion wrote: You're right, it really isn't that much of a difference. There are some trailers that could allow you to get 14 or 15 mpg. A hardside popup like my Aliner (I get 16-17 mpg) or a Trailmanor or HiLo, a molded fiberglass 'egg' trailer like Scamp or Casita, or possibly an Airstream would fit the bill. However, even raising fuel economy from 10 to 15 mpg would be less than a grand per year. I am pulling a 2015 3124KD Trailmanor with a 2005 Avalanche 1500 on the east coast. My normal MPG is around 20 and towing I get 16+. Unexpectedly, I get my best MPG in the "mountain" areas. However to do that I have to be willing to open and close the Trailmanor, open and close the inside bathroom, have a smaller bathroom, a half size refrigerator, etc. It is all about compromises. My Trailmanor tows quite nicely and I do not mind the setup, but others do...Re: Calculated tow capability... DisappointedDon't guess....use this calculator: http://changingears.com/rv-sec-calc-trailer-weight-tt.shtml
