All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Tire Review Bridgestone Duravis R500 HD I bought 5 of the 500hd tires and I'm really glad I did. They are very heavy duty, I have about 2 years on them now still look new. I do monitor tire pressure. They hold air great. Just normal up and down due to temperature changes. I did all kinds of research on rv tires and tire reviews, these seem to be the best bet for long mileage and dependability. I run michelins on the tow truck. I really like the new defender tire, but the michelins do crack on sidewalls after about 5 years. I don't like that. So far I love the Bridgestone Duravis tires for the 5th wheel. I even bought maching rim and put one on spare to rotate into the 4 on the ground. I do that on my work trucks also. Dan. Re: 5th wheel tire reviewFollow up, just returned from Phoenix AZ put about 850 miles on new bridgestone r500 hd tires. (LT235-85-R16)They rode great I could not tell any differance or ruffness. It gave me great peace of mind not thinking about the Carlisle ST tires blowing out. I sold the Carlisle tires just about paid for my new spare tire. So far Im happy I bought the bridgestone.Re: 5th wheel tire reviewI just looked at the dot code on the Carlisles was 3619 on all 4. so I bought the 5th wheel march of 2020. So the tires were built in August 2019 in China and loaded in a slow boat to America and sold to the previous owner. So the tires were sitting round for about 6.5 months. My new Bridgestones tires are 1 year old before I bought them. I wonder why so long maybe the covid slowed things down.Re: 5th wheel tire reviewI know some say they are better. I only have about 3,000 miles on mine. They were on the used 5th wheel I bought. Seller just put them on to sell unit. I kept the tires.Re: 5th wheel tire review3042 pounds at 80 PSI, my axle weight is 10,000 # on the scale. This tires are correct for this weight. My 5th wheel weighs 12,000 total ready to camp.5th wheel tire reviewI have been reading on this and other rv forums about replacement 5th wheel tires. I do not want to ever have ST tires again. The size I use is LT235-85-16 E Rated. I found information about the Bridgestone R500HD. I had 5 installed, my weight on the axles is correct for these tires. I had rig weighted when I was going on a trip with all loaded. These are commercial rated tires for work vehicles. Good tread for a trailer tire. I removed the Carlisle tires the trailer came with. Mostly because of there bad failure rate. I have spent too many times on side of interstate changing tires. Yes I have tire pressure monitor system. Anyway I think these tires are worth considering for 5th wheel use. They are poly cord sidewall with steel belts. Reports of them lasting over 100,000 miles. I'm sure they will rot out before I ever were out the tread. I could not find out where they were made before i bought. On side of tire it says made in Japan. The date code was 1120. So the tires are about 1 year old before installed. Dont like that, time will tell. I only have 150 miles on them now. My trailer weight I did not need the all steel that the heavier 5th wheels need. I hope this helped someone looking at 5th wheel tires.Avelers installed on Travel trailerutomatic leHas anyone installed a automatic leveing system on your travel trailer? Did you install yourself and was it tuff or OK? Also did you go with a electric jack system or hydraulic? what was the brand and do you like it. I'm looking into the different systems for mine. I so far like the bigfoot system, as I have read a bad post about the bullseye system and them not returning the customers calls when they had trouble. I'm looking forward to the answers. Thanks so much in advance for your reply's.New ProprideI received my new Propride hitch and installed. The installation manual was not easy to understand. No parts description so you really had to guess what they were calling what. I got threw it. It really pulled great. Everything I have read about it. Very stable. 1st trip about 300 miles. We had everything, wind, lite snow and light hail. Did not really effect the trailer at all. I have a 32 foot travel trailer. On the return trip light wind, didn't notice any input from the trailer at all. best towing I have ever had. The truck even rides better then when not pulling if you can believe that. Now the only problem I am having is disconnecting. The tow bar sticks and I have to use a punch to wedge it apart with a hammer. I called propride they said maybe welding splatter and knock off with screw driver I did that no change. So other owners of this hitch that had this same problem what did you do to get it to separate easy? I think after I get that problem fixed I will love this hitch and the way the trailer pulls. It even turns easier no anti sway bar humps to overcome. I will be checking for the solution to my issue thanks all. DanStolen BatteriesIve had my neighbors tell me that there RV batteries have been stolen, Ive even had my propane bottle stolen from my gas grill by my front door. Anyway I have a travel trailer with 2, 6 volt batteries on the toung. I know we can't be the only ones that have had things stolen from there travel trailers. I was wondering if anyone on this forum had come up with a way to lock batteries on the toung of there trailers so they won't get stolen? I'm looking for a system that will work good and still look good also. Thanks in advance for your answers!Amish cooling unit failedI bad bought one of the Amish cooling units because it had a 3 year warranty and the original Dometic one only had 1 year. Also the Amish was supposed to have thicker tubing making it harder to crack and leak. It lasted 2 years. I was on vacation this summer & I had lots of food in it and ruined about 1/2 of it. Unit cracked in the boiler area and leaked out the amonia. Luckly it was on electric or could have burned down the trailer. I called Pines RV refrigeration and the girl there said they would send out a replacement unit today. They did and by the end of the week it showed up at my house. A long day and me and a friend installed it. I also installed a ARP control that supposed to shut down the power so the gas or electric stops if it gets too hot. The control maker claims that is what causes the boiler to over heat and metal to fatigue. Anyway I hope it really does work. The refrigerator is now working great. I used over the long holiday and it cycled between 39 & 40 degrees, I was very happy about that. Now why did it fail? I will probably never know. Anyway I do want to that Pines RV refrigeration for sending another replacement coil without me having to buy another and wait to get a refund when I sent the old one back. Also they paid the UPS both ways, how many companies will do that? I really liked that. I wish it didn't fail. I lost over 100 dollors worth of food before we knew we had a problem. Hopefully the Amish change to the cooling coil will solve the problem on the replacement unit they sent to me. Anyway I was treated very good by the company and would still highly recommend doing business with them in the furture. Mine was a dometic 2852 model number. Enjoy your RV trips.
