In my internet research about this product, I have seen multiple posts on websites such as 'Satellite Guys' saying that the Trav'ler is useless for picking up HD satellite 129 in the DISH system in the northestern US. Best advice I have seen is to purchase a dome-type portable that is capable of receiving the eastern arc HD satellite. Was gonna buy a new Trav'ler, but now thinking about a Winegard portable. Would appreciate comments on this!US 23?We're heading south on our way to store in middle Tennessee for the fall. Decided to try eastern Ohio and Kentucky on our way down. MapQuest suggests the best route from Zanesville, OH to Ashland, KY would be US 23. Anyone familiar with that stretch of road? When in unfamiliar territory, I generally default to interstates, but Wikipedia describes US 23 as mostly four-lane, divided highway. Anyone think of a reason NOT to use that route?Kentucky turnpikesWe plan to try the Western Kentucky and Purchase turnpikes in our trip south this fall. Just wondering if these roads are maintained to standards similar to Interstates. Is there a lot of truck traffic? And are there rest areas like you find on Interstates?Re: Road Guide? In reply, when an axle is tubular, straightening won't work without kinking the metal (I just learned this yesterday!)so the only option is replacement. Confirmed by axle manufacturer as well.Road Guide? We recently returned from Texas, where we spent the winter. On our way home, we encountered terrible road conditions on the I-40, near Memphis in Arkansas and Tennessee. So bad, in fact, that we believe we bent an axle banging over the huge potholes, caused by their unusual late-winter weather. I am hoping to find a way to avoid the worst interstates in the future. There is such a wide contrast-- I-79 in western Pennsylvania, for example, is generally smooth and trouble-free, while I-76 from Akron, Ohio to Pennsylvania is riddled with holes and hugely mis-aligned bridge/road joints. Does anyone know of a forum or website where the best and worst highways are listed? We would willingly go many miles out of our way to avoid bad roads... especially now that I expect to have to replace an axle and a tire as a result of our highway misadventures. Any comments?Re: Will be trading to a 5th Wheel. Which TV. (F350 or Ram 3500)Ford rides better? My 2010 Dodge 3500 dually rides like a limo when towing my 13,500-pound fifth wheel. Quiet as a luxury car inside (except for engine noise while accelerating!) Cruises effortlessly. Plenty of power for hill-climbing and the BEST engine brake! On the highway you would never know you are towing anything. Previous poster may be right about fishtailing with single wheels on rear, but the dually is plenty heavy back there. Couldn't be happier with my TV choice.Avoiding Toronto bottlenecksThis topic has been moved to another forum. You can read it here: 27808332Avoiding Toronto bottlenecksWe are just embarking on our new rv lifestyle here in Ontario, Canada. Many of the campgrounds we would like to visit are north of Toronto in the Muskoka area. I would like to ask those of you who travel in the Toronto area which route do you recommend to get from west of Toronto to the 400 highway? I am interested in avoiding Hwy 407 and the intersection of Hwy 401-400. Has anyone used Hwy 27 north, then headed east? What is the best way of avoiding white-knuckle driving on our way to Muskoka?Re: Ontario to Texas Gulf coastThanks, everyone! I have so much good information here that it should make things easy. Now, I'm looking forward to the trip instead of dreading it!Re: Ontario to Texas Gulf coastSince it is January, the object would be to get out of the colder weather as fast as possible... hence, interstates.
