What is involved is usually contacting the park your interested in, either via the web (someone mentioned volunteer.gov), which lists a large number of positions and you can choose the state you want or get a phone number on line and call For the states, most have an online presence again by online or you can call or visit. Many state parks have lists of available positions on them, you sometimes have to look around for the volunteer positions. There are a number of hikes you can take from very easy to long day o overnight. In no particular order from the east side of the park, take the shuttle to bear lake and either go up to the nymph dream and emerald lakes (all one hike)or go down to bierstead. Other NP host tips, find out what to do when someone leaves the campsite for the day, and leaves a large fire burning. (Put it out?) Find out what to do with food or dog food left out for the bears (Bearbox? or ranger station?)
