I have a Aluminum storage box with rubber pads under it. I used 3 U-bolts to bolted it to a corner of the roof Rail. Been up there for 10 years with no problems.( If you don't count the time the box hit a overhead beam!!)
My passenger side is about 1 inch lower I guess because of the slideout and fridge on that side. And that's with 90 pounds in the airbag on that side and 25 on the drivers side
