Whether this is your first time here or if you’ve already jumped into the conversations, kick today off with a quick, friendly hello. It’s always great to run into familiar faces further down the road.

Hi there, old man starting to make a lifelong dream come true. In my early 20s I wanted to visit every national park, monument, seashore etc in this great country. Instead life happened but my dream stayed with me. Recently I purchased the necessary equipment to start my quest in early 2025. A Coachman Northern Spirit 18RBB will be my home away from home for the foreseeable future. If anyone has advice, I'm willing to listen. Also on what areas to avoid.
Or just wish me luck.

GS101,
If you plan to boondock (jargon alert, staying for free) then a way to recharge the battery bank is a wise investment. The cheapest way, long term is to add solar panels. For my detailed thoughts, surf here:

Cont: We have a 2022 Grand Imagine XL 22RBE, we take a 4 week trip in the spring and another in the fall. We make reservations for our trips, and don’t have faith in the “play it by ear” hoping to find an open slot. Many state parks now take reservations, if not there are many really nice privately owned ones out there.

Leatherneck1812 here, been RVing since 2001, we’re on or fifth RV (4 travel trailers (TT) and one 5th wheel). Various brands, on the trailers like some, we started small went big (the 5th wheel) and went back to small. What I take when I travel:
2 - Full 5 gallon gas cans. You never know when you need them.
1 - AC air compressor/canister. Many stations no longer have air available, or their hoses or pumps are not operational.
Spare IT equipment cords, one set for the truck, one for the trailer.
A small leaf blower, for cleaning off the awning before rolling it up.
4 - lawn chairs, two for my wife and I, and two for visitors.
Bottled water for us and our two dogs.
A good tool kit ( cable ties, teflon plumbing tape, assorted tools, proper sized socket for the water heater rod, batteries for the smoke/LP detectors, a small electric heater (So you don’t burn your propane), this is (for me the bare essentials) a basic list.

Hi pianotuna, thanks for the welcome. Right off the bat you've delivered a home run. No pun intended. Many thanks for the valuable information.
As I don't plan to be stationary for long periods this is right up my alley. I got a feeling we'll be communicating from time to time.

Hi,
My family has recently began our camping adventure and got away from the hotels! Started our fun in October and have made it a point to go somewhere every every month, if not twice. Wife didn't think she would like it but turns out she loves it as much or more than I do. My favorite part is not only the travel, but being able to watch the kids be kids at the camp grounds!

I would guess you are south of the snow belt. Unfortunately, our RV has been parked in its garage till about March. I think every new RV owners goal is to get out there a couple of times or 2 -3 weeks a month, but it rarely works out that way. That you guys are getting out there is spectacular. Hope you do get out there and get the most out of your RV and prove me wrong. 😉

Way south of the snowball and I certainly hope to prove you wrong. 😆

Hello all and good tidings to you and yours!!!
I’m Darren semi retired and just getting rolling with my 5th wheel. I have a KZ Montego Bay it’s an 07 that spent 10ish years parked in a Barn. I feel like I got lucky and found a gem!!! I’m from the Omaha area originally but have traveled and moved on a continuum most of my life. So being nomadic is in my blood. I’ll be 50 + a few in Couple months and looking for fun places to visit. I’m in the hill country in central Texas. Heading to Rosharon TX in a couple days to go skydiving for a couple weeks. If any other sky babies are out there would love to meet up at a DZ and get a few jumps in. Also looking for fellow BASE jumpers. I’m only an ASE jumper and dearly need a metro savvy friend to help me get access to a Building. Preference is over 500’. I’ll be in AZ in mid to late Jan and feb looking to stop on the Moab area on the way.
I wish you safe travels and smooth roads and sunny skies!!
all the best
