Be aware that they are doing an Ag search of all RVs heading into the US at the highway 97 crossing. They will collect any produce that does not have what they consider proper documentation. Best to be light on veggies/fruits when crossing this border station.

I was commenting on the posters view of "Kalifornia"...I am very familiar with the 101 and 1. Used to live in Walnut Creek, too.

The only time we have been checked was at that border crossing, probably because harvest was in full swing and they wanted to protect American producers. I hope she enjoyed the one tomato she confiscated.

I really don't get why people have a struggle with crossing the border? Don't have any food in your RV. Period. Not even pet food unless it is clearly labelled as made in the US.

Yes, I know..food in the US can be much cheaper. However, loosing it at the border is so going to happen..and then people get mad. Why?

California...is a beautiful state. Probably couldn't afford to live on the coast but visiting? One of the best states to hang out in.

That crossing has always been one of the worst, in both directions.

Good........

If you are carrying any of the following items you MUST disclose them to the US border official:

Fruits and vegetables
Plants and cut flowers
Meat and animal products
Live animals

The regulations change from time-to-time because they are based on current perceived threats to the U.S. Fines for bringing a prohibited or restricted item across the border range form $100 to $50,000

Crossing from US into Canada
Regulations on food and meat products change constantly. Many will be confiscated at the border. You can check the Canadian Food Inspection Agency Automated Import Reference System for more information or call the CBIS.
