Airline Road Maine

I'll be heading up the Airline later this year to Nova Scotia. I've been told that about 5 mile past Beddington, ME there is a 'parking lot'. Anyone know if you can overnight there? Or are there prohibitions?

So I'm finally get caught up on things after almost a month on the road. Mopang was just the right distance for me. Place was fairly quiet, but there did seem to be traffic around the clock. I did wind up with somebody else sleeping in a cargo trailer next to me. I also had a 'local' stop and tell me there was a fishing campsite right up the road about ten minutes. For what I wanted, it more than filled the bill.

The reason I don't stop is because when I go by Mopang I'm 1 1/2 hours from Blacks Harbour and the boat to Grand Manan. If I were going farther I would push on to Calais and catch a nap at Walmart or the grocery store before crossing over. I can't recall if Mopang is lit or not, there's a stretch of the Airline that has no power. And there is some truck traffic all the time

Did you check the coordinates? That's a few miles east of Beddington on 9, and fits the description. I don't know why Google names it that - it doesn't appear to be a town, and it's not in the NW corner.

Washington is the county, not the town, henceforth the confusion.

The reason for the stop is it's about a 7 hour drive from my start and I can catch the border crossing first thing in the morning and still have plenty of time to make my destination afterwards.

Doing the crossing first thing is a good idea before traffic starts to build up. I have done the drive at night and it can still be a fairly busy road. There are also 2 Wal-Marts in Calais (about another hour) that might allow overnight parking.

I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be

Looks like a nice place to stop.. as long as there isn't too much traffic at night!

Yes those are the coordinates.

That's nowhere near where he is looking. North Washington is in the northwest corner of the state. The "Airline Road" is Maine State Route 9 which goes from Bangor to Calais, ME (border crossing to NS).

Because it's only about an hour from that point to Calais and the border crossing. It just seems like an odd place to stop.

It's called the Mopang Pull Out. There are actually 2 lots there.The first one for cars, the second for trucks and RVs.I've been by there all hours of the day and have seen RVs and trucks parked there at night.Don't know if I'd spend the night but I'm only pushing up the road a couple more hours.
