any info on Rt 17 in Virginia

Interested in getting from Rt 301 in VA to Virginia Beach. I could go to I95/I64 to the Beach. Wondered how Rt 17 was for towing fifth-wheel. Are there a lot of small towns to go through that would slow me down?

Few towns, but that just makes the drive more interesting - Good Road - Nice drive.
