470 to 435 to 70 west is normally best. But there was major construction at 435 and 35 earlier in the year so best to check on that.

Thanks Banker was looking at map and thinking of using 470 looks easier for an old man.

We have stayed at Worlds of Fun (?) in KC twice and a it is a nice park. We really enjoyed the exhibit downtown of the sunken paddle wheeler's cargo that has been raised and displayed. The name of the boat is Arabia. Also the WWI museum downtown was very interesting. We also thought the city of Independence and Truman's presidential library and home were interesting. We just go strait through on I 70 to Kansas. Never really had a problem just watch your street signs as you would in any large city.

Many thanks to those who replied. 255 to 270 is the way to go. Got to Sundermier yesterday. Will start the sightseeing today. Now any suggestions about Kansas city??

Casino Queen is a good place to stay if you want to visit the Cardinals Stadium (great tour) and the Arch or anything else downtown. Do not worry that it is located in East St Louis. They have excellent security and will even pick you up to/from the Metro which we rode during the day with no issues. If you have a big rig, parking is really just a big parking lot with hook ups. If you want to go to a Cardinals game, they provide a free shuttle that picks you up/drops you off for the game. We did not go to the casino while there. We go around St Louis when just going through the area via I270 to I255.

If you're on 64 heading west you'll come right to the Casino Queen RV Park on the Illinois side of the river.

It has an awesome view of the Arch at night.

When you leave you'll cross the river and immediately pick up I-70 west.

Edmund Babler State Park is also a very nice place to stay, depending on what you want to do in the St. Louis area. It has huge grassy lawn sites and is a beautiful park with walking trails, excellent biking and they used to have a pool - haven't been there in a while. It's conveniently located just off I-64 west about 30 miles from St. Louis downtown at the Arch. However, it's close to Forest Park with it's zoo, art museum and other activities. Leaving there it would be easy to get on I-70 west without the downtown traffic.

Both of these will definitely need a reservation because they're very popular. Have a great trip!

There is only one way around, the 270/255 loop.

St. Peters has a very nice new (and safe)city RV park. I personally wouldn't want to stay any closer to the "war zone".

We take the "northern" expressway to St. Charles and stay at Seidmeir (sp?). You miss taking your camper through downtown. We have driven to most of the attractions from there without any real problems. We found a gem next to the zoo which is great and can't remember the name of the park but the one stop that was fantastic is the art museum in that park.

Its been discussed here before.
Do a search for "queen" or "casion queen" and you should find it.

The consensus is that it's about the only good place that is really near to "downtown" St. Louis.

It has also been discussed that you can NOT take your RV to most of the "attractions" around there.
