We are planning on driving CA 199 from Grant's Pass to Crescent City to go to Redwoods National Park. We tow a 34' 5th wheel. Anything we should be aware of? Have you driven this route recently?
Thanks!

Drove it 10 days ago going to the coast, some one way traffic due to construction 24 hours a day in two places. We are in a class C towing a car, have gone this route many times take your time and enjoy and like others have said don't get pushed by traffic behind you. We are in Brookings Oregon sunny and nice. Drove it last year with our 36-foot 5th. Beautiful drive. Just be aware that as you "meander" along the Smith River, there will be huge Redwoods quite close to the edge of the road. Go slow and enjoy.

When we did the same trip last year, I found the anticipation of it was Far worse than the road it's self, not bad at all & very scenic.

We take that route 3 or 4 times a year. When you get close to the coast, you will find the road meandering along the Smith River. Take your time and use the turnouts to let the faster cars go by. Don't let the cars push you faster than what you are comfortable with. Beautiful scenery.
