Anyone on here from the area of Charleston SC / Hilton Head? I'm flying into CHS tomorrow morning (Oct 7) and need to drive to Hilton Head for a business meeting.....I checked SCDOT and it appears most of the flooding is north and west of Charleston......Wish me luck!

I'm surprised too! But I guess if you flew into Savannah, the ride to HH isn't an issue. There are zero road closures in that area.

I wanted to fly into Charleston as I love that city and the drive to HH is a nice ride.

Given the location - I'm surprised your meeting hasn't been cancelled!

Thanks for the advise......Looking at the SCDOT advisories, it looks like everything that is closed is north and west of Charleston

http://dbw.scdot.org/roadconditionsemr/default.aspx

I'll be traveling through Colleton and Beaufort counties and there is nothing closed in Beaufort and a few dirt and secondary roads closed in Colleton.

Can't get a flight to Savannah and Charlotte puts me driving right through the very worst of it.

Wish me luck.....I'm a goin' in!

Per the SCDOT website this morning , there are still a TON of roads closed , including a 90 mile stretch of I95 . . . AND with it raining in the north-west areas ,it will take a few days for that rain water to flow down to the already flooded areas . .
The news said that there are 3 major rivers that will take the water south-east to the ocean , those will not STOP rising till later this week . . at least that's their guess ..
GOOD LUCK to all in the effected areas

With Charleston so for East of I95 and in normal times you would want to drive US17 until it runs into I95 farther down the road heading for Hilton Head... With all of the flooding and problems I would not even think about going down there until things get better...

It is really really bad down there right now... You know Emergency Services vehicles and roadblocks are going to be EVERYWHERE... You really might want to go to Charlotte or Savannah and drive to Hilton Head from there...

Of course I95 in the area of I20 and I26 is also closed down or at least was closed down for flooding as well...

You know its bad down there when the Internationally known Virginia Task Force 1 (VATF-1), Fairfax County’s Urban Search and Rescue Team gets deployed to the Charleston/Columbia areas...

You certainly don't want to become part of the problems down there...
