We're looking at being in the New Orleans area within the next month or so and would stop in for a day visit of the French Quarter, but do not want to get an RV site: just something for a few hours of "SAFE" parking near the French Quarter. All comments welcome.

we've done this also for a few hours of daytime visit to FQ. We just paid for however many spaces we took up.

If you want to spend the night French Quarter RV is great, although expensive (to me). We did splurge and stay there one night this past summer on our way to Florida.

Another vote for Algers. Don't go into the Quarter or the Garden District with an RV. (When we go to N.O. we leave the trailer at home and stay at a Wyndham Hotel at Magazine and Canal.)

Catch the free ferry to the foot of Canal and then walk a half block to the Canal Street streetcar line (Not Riverfront line) and ride up to Rampart and walk back a block or two over from Canal. Bienville is good.

Stop at the Casino for a "rest" and then catch the ferry back across the River.

Looks like you may be coming from Texas.
If so, plan on spending time at Bayou Segnette State Park. From there is is just a short 10 mile drive to the Algers/Canal St. Ferry. The ferry drops you off just a few blocks from Jackson Square and the French Quarter.
