It must be time to go, the suns out and I've got a full tank of diesel!
We have a granite fireplace hearth! Love to be a little different.

Yes, it's supposed to be OFF according to the PA Turnpike Commission when I emailed them Friday. I actually have driven through those tunnels a few times with it on without knowing the rule.

I don't think there are any tolls from where you cross 70 on 79 and over to Frederick. there are not a lot of convenient gas/food stops on that section.
according to my TL trip planner, it is about 40 miles and 40 minutes further to go down to 68. 68 is more scenic than 70 but worse hills.

The two possible routes will work. Either can see snow and depending on how much to be cleared out. I think I79 to 68 to 70 has less tolls.

I-79/68 in Western MD can easily have a snow storm /blizzard. don't know how PA would be any different however.

Bumpy gave you the route- you'll get crushed in tolls, but it is what it is.

There's rarely much weather in early November in MD. I'm not sure how southeast PA will treat you, though. Same with the drive south on I-81 to NC- should be a pretty clear shot.

Road-wise, the highways that Bumpy referred to are all decent roads. Nothing exceptional. Check your GPS settings as it may try to route you off of the turnpike since it has tunnels. But they're all plenty high (tractor trailers use them all of the time).
