Heading north in early June. I usually take I95 to 17 to I66 to I81 to I78, then 287 to 87 north to 90. Is construction on 17 close to 95 been completed yet? Is 95 straight thru Richmond still good at midday? Sometimes I take I78 to 33 to 209 to Port Jervis and then 209 up to 87 at Kingston. Last year I took I81 all the way to I84 but it was construction hell and very rough through the mountains with a lot of very narrow single lanes. From I90 I turn north on 91 to Brattleboro and the east to Manchester and 101 to 95 in NH. Over the years I have used just about every route including 95 all the way (once and never again). My round about routes add about 100 miles but skip the Washington to and thru Boston headaches. Last fall on the way south I95 through S. Carolina was much improved since they ground the concrete smoother. No more roller coaster bounce. Sure would appreciate any road condition reports. Heading out after Memorial Day rush is over.

How about it Chuck? Bet you covered some of this recently! 🙂

Just made the trip north on I81 to I84 east into New England/Maine...some construction around exit 100/I81 in PA...other than that, not very much trouble. Always expect the roads in the northeast to be bad...never disappointed there:-)

Came up 95,3 weeks ago on a Sunday morning at 9:00AM. At that time 17 at 95 was OK. 81 has lots of construction on the bridges, lots of long backups. Stayed on 78 to 33, up to Scotrun PA. Have a good trip.

87 north to 84 or 684 north to 84, then 90 to 290 to 495 to 95.
691 over to 91 north and then back on 84 gets you out of most of hartford.
There are endless ways to go, that's what makes it fun.

I live in Pennsylvania. I'm accustomed to the rough roads and construction, I probably just assume it's like that everywhere. 😞

When traveling to Bangor ME, we take I-81 north to I-84 east. It's the best route for us. But, there are several options as you mentioned.

Whenever you travel in Pennsylvania, always assume you will hit road construction/repair. You are very seldom disappointed.

Before you leave check 511PA for construction information.

Enjoy your trip.
