You may already know this, but careful with "parkways" in New England! Garden State Parkway is okay to tow on, but most are not open to trailers. Some people tow campers on them, but... that is your call.

I just did this same route a few weeks back from Liberty Harbor. I suggest going Rt78 west and pickup Rt287 north. This will avoid GW Bridge and put you over the Tappen Zee Bridge. You stopping at Normandy Farms in Foxboro? Its a great Resort
Yes, we are staying in Normandy Farms. It looks great. We have 3 nights there.
It sounds like that route around the GW bridge is the way to go. I know it is impossible to avoid all tolls in that part of the country, but I am hoping to avoid the BIG tolls. My father in law went over the the GW bridge two years ago in his class C towing a smart car and it was almost $100 to cross. He thought they were joking. They weren't.
I have my EZ pass transponder box ready. We have budgeted for some tolls on this trip.

If you leave early enough or late enough the GWB is not an issue.
Except for the toll. Passenger car is $15. Two axle dually truck is $42. Can’t imagine what a dually towing a 2 or 3 axle trailer must be.
I crossed the GWB just a couple weeks ago, and when the attendant told me what the toll was I said “You do realize I’m not towing that car behind me, right?” She laughed, but said “Yeah, it’s just the duals. Welcome to NYC!”.
