Help..In Need of a OPD reader for Cummings Diesel

Friend here in Rincon De Guayabitos near La Penita has a check engine light on which has forced him to safe mode in the engine. Frieghtliner says he must get a reader to see what the code is before action can be taken to fix the problem. I think it was called an OPD reader. He has a 2004 Allegro Bus with ISL cummings engine. Was sitting here in RV park for 40 days and now wants to head North. Anyoe have any suggestion. My cell number is 302-157-4745

I meant diesel DP s that have real diesels, not pickups. His DP I Doubt has OBD.

My Ram with the Cummins 6.7 DIESEL has an OBD2 port.

If he has a laptop he could buy Silverleaf software and a cable. That's what I have.
You get a much larger screen and lots of info. You also get good tech support from them in diagnosing the codes.

Mine was caused by a bad turbo boost sensor. $200.

My truck has one as does my buddy's Kenworth.

OOPS - I didn't mean to say the same things as the others here have said. No one was here when I typed up my response - Then I had to walk away for a couple of minutes and when I came back I just hit the send key...

Sorry bout the Chief...

Looks like it's a trip to Puerto Vallarta. 'Cummings' is not allowed on here.

I think you are referring to a OBD CODE READER. When I need to use one I just stop by the local NAPA store and they will read my fault code for me.

I bet the other Auto parts stores will do likewise. Then they can sell you a replacement sensor part to fix the problem...

What he needs is an OBD (on board diagnostics) reader for his Cummins.
Often times part houses like Oriellys, Napa, have them. But sometimes the codes can only be read by a special Cummins reader. All you can do is try a standard reader to know for sure.

Any Autozone parts store can scan the codes for him. What he is looking for is ODBII reader.
