Planning a trip this summer and wanted to stop along I-5 in California, but no place to camp. What is Highway 99 like heading north towards Oregon, if anyone knows? Is it all stop and go between all the little cities?
Thanks in advance.

Bakersfield to Hwy 395 and up into Oregon! Scenic drive, lots of camping & little traffic, CHEAP Gas in Gardnerville, NV, WIN money as you pass through Reno and then more scenery on your drive up North! Hey 395 beats 5 or 99 every which way! Except in winter with possibly snow & ice....

I’ve only experienced issues near Bakersfield until you get to Sacramento. US 395 would be even better during the Summer.

We prefer to drive 99 vs I5. More to see and do.

There are several options while traveling up I5 in California - we've used the Lost Hills RV Park, right at the Lost Hills exit, a few times - it's a basic, no-frills stop but adequate for overnight. Then when you get to the Hwy 152 exit there's 3 parks within a couple of miles of that exit. Continuing north there's Kit Fox RV Park in Patterson - we've stayed there several times. Then up at the Hwy 12 exit in Lodi you've got Flag City RV Park - another nice place to stay.

North of Sacramento there is Heritage RV Park in Corning, or Rolling Hills Casino. Continuing north there's several options in the Redding/Shasta area.

You have a decent choice of Good Sam parks, PAssport America parks, KOA parks, and others all up and down the I5 corridor...

Stop and gop and boring. I do not like 99 at all.

Stop and go traffic could be a problem at times as it is a very busy freeway but no traffic lights to deal with.
