what do you recommend? US 64 back to I95, US 64 to US 17 or NC 12 to the ferry to cedar island then pick up US 17. Thanks

We have taken 17 from Charleston, through Myrtle Beach and on up to Virginia Beach with a side trip to Nags Head and really enjoyed it. New Bern is a nice stopover if you have the time and enjoy Southern history(and the Birthplace of Pepsi).

If you have time, take the ferry route. It will take about 4 hrs between wait time and riding the ferry's , but it was relaxing and worth it, as long as the weather is good.
Full timing it since July 2012

64/17 is the only way for you. Why fight the traffic, trucks and lousy road on 95,when 17 is such a leisurely drive?

Made the OBX to Myrtle last month and did the 64/17 route. Pretty easy. In the past I've done the 64/I95 route and it seemed to take forever.
