You will be traveling on a good state highway hwy 1 which was the main route prior to the interstate system. The area is rural farm land cotton, cane, millet, corn, soybeans. Food should be good. Ask the locals for suggested places. We like Crawfish Town near Lafayette for cajun food. You may want to take a swamp tour, Avery Island is a good visit for its wildlife, birding, gardens, salt mine, Tabasco hot sauce etc. Ask the locals for more suggestions.

We travel LA 1 from Simmsport till it hits 190. Basic 2 lane road with good shoulder. Crosses spillway in Morganza La. Depending on time of day and year you could get behind school bus or farmer pulling wagon with tractor. We have traveled it in MH 5th wheel and TT. Haven't traveled Natchez to LA 1 in long time.
