In the past 5 years I have made 3 trips to Alaska from South Mississippi. I would love to be on the road again this year, but family issues make that difficult. I would really like to read reports from those of you who are on your way or already there. I really do miss the scenic beauty, the wildlife and meeting so many wonderful people. I'm sure that there are many others who feel this way and would enjoy reading your reports. If you have a blog, please post your link and I can follow you there.

I hope all of you are enjoying great weather. Last night I was recalling how lucky we were when we were in Valdez and the locals told us it was the best 3 straight days of beautiful weather that they had ever experienced. Valdez is one of my favorite places and when we get back up there, I plan to stay there at least a week. My second favorite place was Hyder. I will be back!

Currently sitting in Hope Ak...a very cool little place right on the water, surrounded by mountains. A very talented musician performed last night at Seaview Inn...Milo was his name. People seem to just come out of the woodwork. It was a great night of watching people and listening to tunes.
Will stop by here on way out of the Kenai for a couple days.
Highly recommended...

Hey don"t be giving away "our" little secret.
If you like the quiet of Hope try Captain Cook State Park. Be Bear wise.

We are leaving Anchorage today to head north to Talkeetna. We waited a week for the smoke to clear - with the rain the past few days we hope we will have no problems. We have been surprised at the mostly wonderful weather so far.

Highlights? Wow - too many to list - it is beautiful here.
Lows? Probably losing our water pump in the final push to Tok on Yukon roads.

We left Talkeetna this morning headed for the Kenai, 1st stop Cooper Landing. We had wonderful weather while in Talkeetna but that is changing as we head south, drizzle and cooler temps.
Parks hwy south in great shape and light traffic. Then Anchorage?? got thru there and headed down the Seward hwy. this being Friday road construction not being done, and there are lots of things going on, lots of bad bumps not marked.
Raft ride tomorrow on the Kenai, then headed to Anchor Point Sunday.

I am the person who started this topic and I appreciate those of you who have responded. As I stated before, I really wish I were headed to or already in BC, Yukon or Alaska. I am a runner and here in Hattiesburg, MS, this heat and humidity is killing me. For the past 4-5 years we have been away for most of the Summer and I am having a really hard time---especially knowing that were it not for having to hang around to help a family member, I'd be out of this heat.

Please continue to post the highlights and lowlights of your trip. It will help to keep me sane, knowing that I will probably make the trip again in the next year or two.

I luv reading all the reports and blogs. I follow them religiously. We are currently saving for this trip, if only once in my lifetime. But, it's on my bucket list as soon as we retire in another couple years. Keep the info coming! For those of you making the trip.... enjoy and safe travels!!

I feel very fortunate, especially after hearing stories of coming here and never seeing much because of the rain.
