route to 5

leaving tomorrow from orange county,ca to paso robles to stockton, ca. via 101, and we want to cut over to the 5. i asked about hwy 46 and netters have said that it's fine, but is there another route we can use? towing a 24 ft. tt.

I have done both routes suggested and consider it a toss up.

I've done both Hwy. 46 to Hwy. 41 to Hwy. 5 and Hwy. 152 to I-5, They are both decent routes. But, I like Hwy. 152 to I-5 better. Have a Great Trip!

Take 46 to 41 to 5. If you stay on 46 you hit 5 just north of Bakersfield.

152 from 101 is a good option. Maybe a bit if trafic and such at the 101/152 interchange but signage is good to 5. More scenic than 46/41/5.

Street Atlas shows 218 miles and 4 hours 46/41/5 route. 101/152 route shows 226 miles and 4 hours 45 minutes.

How about CA156/152? On Google Maps streetview it looks like 4 lane, with either a median barrier or strip most of the way.
