In the planning stage right now, looking to go from Roamers Retreat in Lancaster, to Gettysburg, Pa. Looking at Google Maps they had me going 3 different ways. The one that looks the shortest has me wondering what the roads are like.
Rt. 30 from Lancaster goes through York, Pa. has anyone driven that way recently? Is this a decent enough road for a fifth wheel to travel as far as avoiding branches from trees and such? How about road construction?
We are going to Pa in September, after leaving Lancaster area, we want to travel to see the Battle fields of Gettysburg, before going to Baltimore area.
That is the other concern as to which road to take from Gettysburg to Baltimore, Rt. 140 or 15 to 70 and into the 695 beltway. Any suggestions?

Yes,Route 30 West is pretty good. The first part is mostly limited access divided highway. The other route would be Pa turnpike to Rt 15.

Rt 30 from Lancaster to York is 4 lane divided highway. Rt 30 in York is called the bypass but is busy with a number of lights (eleven). From York to Gburg is a mixture of 3 lane and 2 lane. All good road and suitable for RV travel.

From Gburg to Balto, I'd take 97 thru Littlestown and pick up 140 at Westminister.

Hope this helps.
