Rt 54

Anyone ever take hwy 54 from Wichita,KS to Tucumcari,NM to pick up I40 on into Az. Any feedback would be appreciated. We only drive about 6 hours a day, but would this route consume so much time going through small towns as to not be advantageous.

Good road, plenty of refueling and overnighting/RV park options.

I just took that route a month ago - it was a good road and the small towns are few and the speed is not slowed too much.

The highway is US54. Some of the small towns have been bypassed and the rest are just small towns and don't take long to get though.

I run that route all the time,piece of cake.You will also find alot of semi trucks taking that "short cut" as well.Good road.
