RV registration

We took our first 5th into Mexico a few years ago - registered to husband - didn't return the permit - and then sold it in Canada. We now have a different 5th, and are returning to Mexico in January - would it be OK to have the registration in two names (spouse/spouse) or better to have it just in my name. I know you can't have two RV permits, but wondering if anyone has experience with this. It's less $$ for us to leave the new fifth in spouse/spouse vs just me.

In most of the 1300 verified vessels which had no problem and were certainly not impounded, neither the owner nor any other person was on board; however, touristic marinas, following Mexican port and customs regulations, provided documentation proving legal entry into the country of such vessels. Through provided documentation, auditors were able to identify data corresponding to those 1300 vessels. From this it can be deduced that auditors are able to identify vessel data.

As it can be seen, when touristic marinas comply with regulations and provide to the authority all documents in order, whether owners are present or not, vessel will not have any problem.

In this sense, I mention to you that the reason why around 300 vessels were precautionary impounded was because, regarding those vessels, touristic marinas did not provide any documentation proving legal entry or it was not possible to relate the provided documentation with the corresponding vessel.

Therefore, the authority granted a period so that documentation putting this omission in order was presented. Accordingly, for every case where the right documentation proving legal entry of such vessels was presented, the corresponding ruling shall be issued in strict compliance with the law and so the vessels will be released.

Not completely true - there was a raid by AGACE agents. Those boats that were impounded have now been released. Most had permits - IMPORTACIÓN TEMPORAL, just were not prominently displayed. Paperwork issues abound down here.

Thanks to Napoleonic Law, the basis of Mexican jurisprudence, one is guilty unless proven innocent.

BillB; There is a thread on the boat subject. They are not owned by snowbirds. They are "cruisers" and sailors. Some have homes in Mexico. Some live on the boats for years at a time. Most did not lack the permit.

TIPS are issued via PASSPORT NUMBER. Use the other name. No hassles. As long as the motor vehicle registration has the name of the permit requester on it, it will be no problemo. The RV should be in both names, use your name, your passport number, you valid driver license to get the new permit. No guesswork about this.

On line is the only way to go-same price, fast, easy.
It will be fine to get your permit for the new one in just one name, and in the name of whomever didn't have the permit that wasn't turned in.

Apply on-line and send in documentation that they request. Then you will know the true answer.

Personally I'd call the folks in Mexico for their opinion...which is the only one that will count. With all the permit issues and seizures down there, I'd make sure all my tees were crossed and eyes dotted...I wouldn't want the Mexican Government to seize my rig for permit violations like the others.....just sayin....Dennis

Our first 10 year TIP was in one name. We made the mistake of selling one in the US while it still had a TIP in Mexico. Tried and tried, and still haven't managed to cancel the TIP. The new moho is in the other name. Rest assured, we'll figure it out this time.
We hope/suspect, that when the first 10 year moho permits start to expire, things will change, and make it easier.

Our motorhome is registered in both names (B.C.) but the permit is only in one name and there was no issue about the second name on the registration. That being said the motorhome permit is in my name and every year I get a permit for the tow also in my name so in fact I have 2 permits - 1 10 year and one 180 day and it has never been a problem.
