Coming from the west, do I take 80 to 15S and pick up 80 again as the most efficient route? Hours between 10 and 2 pm good times as in other larger cities? thanks alot!

Hubby says we'll take that northern way past the airport and over to Rt.80 in the early hours of Sat. morning, he's not that concerned. I just hope I'm not the DW that is crying in the front passenger seat of the truck, LOL.

I haven't been the 15 to 84 to 80 route, will give it a try. 39 from Ogden to Evanston is a scenic car trip.

SLC was the only place that I almost had an accident. I need to go to Hill AFB and then south to Moab. Is there a way around it?

There is that long pull from SLC up to Park City. I don't like it in a car. So I go the way I described in the second post of this thread.

I have been flipped off only a handful of times. And most of those were in Utah by young women and not while pulling the 5ver.

SLC is the worst. I will go many miles out of the way to avoid it.

I hate driving through SLC at anytime of day. I am convinced that the highway dept built a divided highway there with two lanes each way and a small shoulder. THEN they added 4 more lanes in the same space. There is no shoulder in many places and if a vehicle is disabled there is no place to go.
The last time we went through there a semi truck passed on the left and the only reason our mirrors did not touch was he was taller.
My wife cried the whole way.
Pick a lane drive straight and hang on.

I thought I was the only one who cried when heading through SLC. I live in Ca and traffic is god awful in some areas, but I would take it any day compared to 80 through SLC. Nothing more terrifying than watching a semi driving 75 in the far L lane just as traffic begins to slow. There is no place to go,nothing to do but pray! I told DH that I would gladly go a few hundred miles out of the way just to avoid that mayhem.

The ONLY time we will go through SLC on I-15 is a Sat or Sun. Any other day, we take 93 & 50 to bypass the whole mess. Be prepared for combat driving, if you are going through on a weekday.

had to be 215 past the airport N, connecting with 15 to 84 to 80. And you say no good time/ Oh, boy, think I'll hang on too and go straight thru. Thanks everyone!

that is how we did it last time. I don't think there is a good time to go through SLC. Kind of like going through El Paso...

I would head north after the SLC airport to Weber Canyon just south of Ogden, then up Weber Canyon( don't remember the highway # )to Evanston, WY.
