San Jose --> Banff CA - grade question

Hello to all,

I *still* have the rig in my sig below, and I'm planning a trip from San Jose, CA to Banff Canada for late June. My route (so far) is I-5 --> 97 --> 84 --> 82 --> 395 --> 90 --> 95 --> 3 (in CA) --> 93 --> 1. I'm trying to maximize time at destination so interstates are preferred this time.

Can anyone tell me if are there any grades more than 7% along this route?

My rig can make the Grapevine reliably, and we've gone through Sierras, but any sustained climbs beyond 7% is worrisome.

Thanks!

Does Mountain Directory cover Canada? The listed route mostly skirts the US mountains (Cascades), but heads directly into the Canadian Rockies.

Get a copy of the Mountain Directory (West). Find your route and it will describe the passes and grades encountered along that route. There is also one for the east.

The only sizeable grade on your proposed route is out of Radium Hot Springs over to the Kootenay River valley and even that is not really of concern for you, INHO. Enjoy the trip!!
