Speed Limits in Canada

One of the really great things about visiting Vancouver Island is the speed limits. On the Island Highway between Campbell River and Nanaimo, posted speed limit is 120. Wow! Max speed limit in the states is 75mph, sometimes 80.

It's for real if you don't know that's Km/hr.

I really don't like like the higher limits. I am most comfortable and get best mileage around 100kmh (60mph give or take)with the trailer and get nervous at seeing the speed demons climbing my tail. Many of the wrecks on the Coquihalla are rear enders caused by faster drivers misjudging the speed of traffic in front of them, some seem to think the road is an excuse to open up.

When I crossed into the US on my way back from Alaska, I forgot to convert back to miles and was rather surprised to see the distance to the nearest town. I then realized I was looking at miles not km, but it took awhile to adjust.
