Next week, I'll be driving either Hwy 99 or I-5 north to Antioch. Haven't decided between those two yet, but once I get up to around Tracy, what is the best route (RV friendly) to get up to Antioch?

BTPO1....It's a little difficult to match your directions on Google maps, as some roads have different names, I think. If you wouldn't mind looking, and tell me if I understand you correctly:
Take the Grant Line Rd exit off 580. Go just a few miles and turn left onto Mountain House Rd. Go several miles, then left on Byron Hwy/J4. At town of Byron, turn left on Camino Diablo. Finally, right on CA4/Vasco Rd to Antioch.

the bear II....There have been several posts on the forum about which is better, 99 or I-5. Seems to be split 50-50 for various reasons, trucks on both, lanes on 99 go from 2 to 3 to 2 for no reason, etc. Thanks for your input. If I do take 99, is it easiest to go all the way up to Manteca and cut over on 120? Or cut over sooner on which other road?

I sent you a PM.

I have found that I like 99 better than I-5. More to see and more places to stop for fuel/food. Time wise the routes are about the same.

I-5 is frustrating due to semi trucks holding up the traffic while passing. You'll be doing 65MPH and then hit a string of trucks and drop to 45-55MPH for a couple of miles, get past them and you hit another string a few miles later. It's a constant 65 down to 50 back up to 65 down to 50....

From Tracy, Take Grant Line Road towards Antioch. Then left onto Camino Diablo Road. Then right on CA4 (Used to be called the CA4 Bypass)take it to Antioch . There is construction on CA4, but it is doable. We recently towed through there with ours towing and we are 53' total. Just try to miss the morning commute. We live in the area and do this route quite often as well as others do. JMO
