Weather and campgrounds around Albuquerque

We are considering a trip to Albuquerque the last week of March & first week of April. What should we expect the weather to be like? Also, what are your suggestions for campgrounds around Albuquerque. We will probably only be there 3-4 days. Thanks in advance.

Pen Man is right about the weather. March/April are usually the windy and I mean windy season here in NM. Albuquerque is not immune but depending on the day or week it could be calm and beautiful or blustery and cold. I live here too, so have no first hand knowledge of staying at a campground, however we have full timing friends who stay at the High Desert RV Park when they are in town and love it. I have met the manager and she is lovely. We stayed several years ago at the KOA north and it was a very nice location. Check Weatherbase.com for weather averages that time of year. New Mexico is the land of Enchantment no matter when you come!

And the Road Runner stop is just about a quarter mile north of the KOA.

American RV has been our camping stop in ABQ for years. It's west of town on I40 and near Camping World.

We have stayed two or three times at the Isleta Casino Resort. they have a very nice rv park set in a large grassy, shady park with fishing ponds and walking trails. they send a shuttle for you if you want to go eat at the casino buffet, etc. there is a Monorail that runs past the rv park that will take you all the way to Santa Fe and back, pretty reasonable, with many stops between...a very good sightseeing transport. so we like this place a lot.

The weather is hard to predict that time of year. It can be fairly warm but it could also snow. If it does snow or get cold it will warm up quickly and melt. If you plan to take the tram to the top of the mountain bring a heavy coat. I live in Albuquerque and have not camped in any of the local campgrounds but the KOA in the east part of the city seems nice (that's where I buy my propane) but I have also heard good things about campgrounds on the west side (near Camping World) and at a casino on the south side. 2oldman's post lists them in the clicky. Enjoy your stay!
