Wife's cousin called. Said they were at Yosemite and looking for a route to the Grand Canyon.

They have a Ram 2500 and pulling and Airstream-guessing between 26-30 feet.

BK and papa-Just received a message from wife's cousin. They are currently south of Fresno for a few days and decided to go to Las Vegas. I will suggest taking I-15 to Las Vegas and then 93 to Kingman. This should take them over Hoover Dam. How is Highway 93 to Kingman?

They are asking about must see's but I haven't been that way.

BK-You said " I assume this late in the year they are going to the south rim." Can you elaborate?

Yeah it can start snowing on the North Rim sooner. The NPS sez:

"The last day for most visitor services and regularly scheduled ranger-led programs is October 15.

The National Park Service continues its operations including the North Rim Visitor Center and Bookstore, as well as the Backcountry Permits Office through October 31.

During the month of November, the North Rim is open for day use only (no overnight parking) unless snow closes Highway 67 prior to that date. During the month of November pay-at-the-pump gas and diesel are available. Learn more..."

And if they have a heavy snowfall it can close earlier. The Road to Kingman is fine, we took it on our last trip. Stayed at a CG in Kingman coming up from Tucson.

99 to 58 to I15. 93 is a good road, then I40. They can visit Hoover Dam but a new bridge bypasses the dam - 911 changed a lot of things. BK may have been referring to snow possibilities. But if going from Vegas to N Rim then another route would be better.

We stayed at a very nice CG just south of Lost Pine, you can't miss it--it has a lot of trees on the east side of 395. In case they want to overnight there.
