Gary, there are so many lakes and rec sites in that area, hard to believe. If you are into history, take a check on the Telegraph Trail. Hogsback Lake is a trailhead for that portion and it runs 125k's to Quesnel.

Firstly GaryKH..there as many spellings for that lake as Cheerios in the bowl, apparently. Borel, Boreal....but to get there and to access a bunch more, look at your mapping o Google or Backroads BC, looking for the left turn onto Francois Lake Rd, just at the west end of Fraser Lake. Following thr road maybe 5? ks, just before it bears right around the lake, you are hooking left onto a major dirt logging road. You have to follow your intincts and work your way thru a bit of an unmarked maze that you will wonder about, but if if you have a GPS, see that you are working your way to the other side of Francois Lake, just around the foot. It was quite straight forward, and of you have to turn and retrace, it's not a big deal. You haven't gone far anyway. Once you get onto Nithi Pit Road...you are rollin...

The rec site we were at was Burner Bay. Only 3 sites, but if you can't get in there, don't worry....there are 100's of rec sites all along those lakes.

Feel free to ask any questions.

Thanks! That's a beautiful area. We've been to Takysie Lk (sp?)before & it was awesome. In fact, the whole area south of Francois Lk. is great.

Nice pics Gary! I tried to find where 'Burell' Lk. was & couldn't, except down by Osoyoos. We are planning on camping along Hwy. 16 come Sept. & are looking for nice 2wd FS sites.

Gary, it looks like you followed that navigator's instructions perfectly -- she seems pretty happy with your driving! 😉 Seriously, that is a terrific picture -- it makes me smile, sort of like hearing an infectious laugh. Very good lighting, too.

Yes..it only took me 60 years to figure which way the wind blew depended entirely on paying strict attention to the navigator. Sharon too, is a gypsy footed soul. As long as the wheels are rolling, metaphorically speaking of course, she is smiling.

Yuppers..and if you enlarge the pic, you can see more in upper left. A couple trucks that didn't quite fall all the way down.

It is not an uncommon sight in BC, where you have a steep cliff or drop-off down to water or just nothingness. The 'The Hill' on the drive to Bella Coola on is fairly littered with carcasses.

There has been a pile of old cars on that hillside for as long as I can remember.
If you are ever in Kitsigukla (spelling) check out the bannock lady at the pullover just on the west side of town. Best fry bread I ever had.

Hey..thanks for that. Some gal in PG was whining about how far from cg to lake. Going to check out the fishing. hahahah...who am I kidding...I don't fish. I have the gear and a kayak but haven't much of clue. I am however, designated camp cook for Sharon and my sister. Gonna try making Beingets to have with morning coffee.

Do a Costco food shop Sunday and get doin....

Did a 4 wheel scouting drive down to the Skeena River yesterday at Kitsigukla.

if not dutch harbor, any other adventures out of homer?
thanks

The alaska ferry goes out to Dutch harbor every other week this summer. I looked no cabins available . If you can catch a ride on the ferry with a cabin it is a wonderful trip out to the aleutians.
Check this schedule and see if anything looks good. I do not have sea legs so the trip out to Dutch is out of the question for me.
