We need a safe campsite for one night along I 55 in Arkansas. Any where along the route would work. We will just be sitting in lawn chairs and sleeping getting ready for the next days drive. Thanks

KOA just north of West Memphis. Used to be an ABC now KOA, nice place for overnite. Safe place, not in town, maybe five miles north of west memphis, right on I-55.

We have stayed a couple of times at the Memphis KOA which is in the country, well out of the West Memphis area. For us it was just an overnight, but we would not hesitate to stay here again.

The only other place we have stayed along this route is the Hayti KOA which is across the state line in Missouri. Same thing: overnight and would not hesitate to stay again.

BTW, we are open-minded about KOAs. They are usually not our first choice, but when they are in the right place we are not prejudiced against them. These are two which have been in the right place for us.

Don't know of any right off hand but do stay away from West Memphis...pretty rough area.

If you are starting from Festus...Memphis isn't really that far (250 mile or 3-1/2 hour drive)...maybe get a little farther in your journey before stopping for the night.
