Would like some input on RV parks from Rapid City to Billings. Have been looking online and am not finding any with good reviews. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, Dave

We stayed at the Billings KOA for an over-nighter in June. It was very nice, but also quite pricey.

Definitely recommend the KOA at Devils Tower - you can't beat the view! You didn't mention it, but if you wanted to visit the Badlands (east of Rapid City) the KOA at Interior, SD is excellent. (And shady! Something you won't get at the NPS no-hookup CG there.)

In the Black Hills, we enjoyed the Rafter J Bar Ranch CG. Depending on the size of your rig, I'd suggest trying for the Ranch Camp or Island sections.

Also agree with Jim Shoe about the Hardin MT KOA. It's worth spending a couple nights, if you have the time, and spend the day touring the nearby Little Bighorn National Battlefield. Nice folks running it, and definitely quiet, yet still convenient to I-90.

Billings KOA is pricey but nice; it's the "flagship" of the KOA brand. We've stayed there a couple times.

I'd recommend the KOA at Devil's Tower also. We stayed there and thought it was great. They show Close Encounters of the Third Kind every night at their outdoor theater (nothing fancy, but fun to do).

We spent one night at the KOA in Rapid City before spending three nights at the KOA at Mount Rushmore. It's a nice campground and I'd definitely stay there again.

If you're looking for something in between the two, I've stayed at the Buffalo, WY KOA on Business 90. If I remember correctly, Buffalo is the home of the famous Jackalope, and the KOA had a stuffed one in the office. Its a big Jackrabbit with antelope horns. They only roam at night and usually just outside bars. Very hard to catch. ๐Ÿ™‚
Also at the Hardin, MT. KOA, a mile north of the 495 exit on I-90. Nice couple running the place and far enough off of I-90 to be quiet.

Also, there's a KOA about 50 feet from the entrance to Devil's Tower. Stop for some pictures as you get closer from Sundance. When you actually get to Devil's Tower, you're too close. Right at the entrance, there's a prairie dog village. Cute little devils.
Retired and visiting as much of this beautiful country as I can.

We liked the Rapid City/Mt Rushmore KOA...close to lots of places we wanted to visit, lots of things to do in the park, a nice restaurant and cafe .
and we LOVED the KOA right at the entrance to Devils Tower....great view, restaurant, and a neat general store across the highway. Don't miss the Prairie Dog Town just after the entrance to Tower...cute little p.dogs popping in and out of their holes!
