Lake placid makes a great day trip to see the art in the town but unless you like to fish and peace and quit there's not much else to do around there.

I would have thought the words Camp Florida would have given a hint or clue as to the state it's located in. but then there are always the SAs.

As an owner in Camp Florida Resort I can definitely recommend it. Lots of activities and good climate, and not crowded like either coasts. PM me for specific questions.

2oldman: You bring up a valid point.

This is a NATIOANL forum. When posting a city/town name we all should be very careful to include the state.

I often had read posts and wondered: Where is that? What state is it in?

Your kidding right...Lake Placid, Fla is an interesting town, my Dad lived in Avon Park so we would go there at Christmas and look at the lights and there is all this art on the building around the city.
FYI there is also a Lake George in FL

It has good reviews here: http://www.rvparkreviews.com/regions/florida/lake-placid

I have driven by it a hundred times as I have family in Lake Placid.

It always seemed well kept.

"A snowbird is a term often associated with people who move from the higher latitudes and colder climates of the northern USA and Canada and migrate southward in winter to warmer locales such as Florida, California, Arizona, Texas...." Wiki

Snowbirds go north in the summer and south in the winter. I think the OP is going south in the winter?
