My son is thinking about taking his two sons (ages 2 and 4 ) to Charlotte area. Anyone stayed at Carowinds CG? How much is there for kids under 42" tall at carowinds? Any suggestions on another CG in the Charlotte area? A pool or waterpark is a must for them. Thanks

I second the KOA in Charlotte/Fort Mill. We stay there at least once a year as our DD is a student at UNC Charlotte. We have stayed at the Carowinds campground as wellbut unless you're going to take the shuttle to and from the park, we found no real advantage to staying there, even when we would go to the park.

Or maybe they could give a voucher for stuff in the park if you pay to camp there.

I would agree with you wb after thinking about what you are saying. It costs the park actually nothing extra for you to come in and they stand to make money from you on parking, food and games. Camping would also make them extra cash flow.

I was just telling my wife today as we were driving by on our way back from Georgia, that carowinds should give those who buy season tickets discounts for the campgrounds. We had season tickets a few years ago, but would of went more often and put more money in their pockets for refreshments if we could go back to the camper to relax for the night. We live about 45 miles from there and it deterred us from going a couple days.

Camp Wilderness Resort's draw is it's close proximity to the park. However, it's neither a resort nor cheap. Shuttle service is available to and from the park when Carowinds is open. McDowell Nature Preserve is approximately 4-5 miles west and offers W&E for $26/night. Ebenezer Park, a county park in Rock Hill is approximately 15 minutes south in Rock Hill, SC and offers FHUs and for $28/night. Ebenezer is first come, first served, sits on Lake Wylie and there is a small swimming area. If KOA is your cup of tea, you'll find one in Ft. Mill, S.C. at Exit 88 off of I-77, between Carowinds and Rock Hill.

WE camped there may years ago and drove through since it has re-opened. For the cost it is not really a $50+ night campground. But if you are going to Carowinds you can't beat the location. If you take the shuttle you won't have to pay to park, so factor that into your decision.

The amusement park itself has a section for smaller kids. There are boats, cars, mini roller coaster, swings, 2 different types of airplanes, train and carousel. In the waterpark, there are two splash areas as well as a pool designated for the little ones. 0' entry up to 3 feet with waterfalls and bubblers.

I would take my son when he was 18 months and there was plenty to keep us entertained.

We love Carowinds and their campground has always been nice. But its been a few years since we've been.

The park should have plenty for the little ones.

Carowinds has all for all ages and also has a waterpark.
Most folks recently have been negative about the cg at Carowinds.
I suggest McDowell preserve cg less than 4 miles from there or something in the Rock Hill,SC area.
