We have been using cherokee for a base camp for 25 years every summer. We camp at Yogie in the smoki3s. Out big cove rd. It's cooler up the mountain. It drops about 10 degrees. We drive over the smokes and spend a day in Gatlinburg, PF.. then over to Maggie valley. Drive the BRP. Go to Asheville. Happy Holiday is nice but we like more kid, family type park. We will be there from the 12th , 21st. Let me know of I could be any help.

Visit the River Arts District in Asheville. Have dinner or lunch at Moe's BBQ.

One evening take a short trip down to Dillsboro. There is a very old hotel there called the Jarrett House. In the hotel there is a great restaurant to eat at. They serve family style. You choose the meat or fish our want and you get a very generous portion. They bring you an endless supply of vegetables. It is a unique place to go to, great experience and great food. Enjoy.

How long are you planning on being there? Not much more than a couple days worth of stuff to do in Cherokee itself unless you are a gambler or like fishing. There are things to do within a 1-2 hr drive though. If you go to cades cove, you might as well hit gatlinburg as well.
