I have not stayed at Chimney Rock, but have considered it. I visit the area frequently as an alumnus of Asbury University and often in our fifth-wheel. I have not found a campground south of Lexington that I could recommend. North of Lexington there is the Kentucky Horse Park which I can recommend. For me there is the problem of being too far from Wilmore and even worse requiring a drive through Lexington.

I have stayed at Camp Nelson on US 27 south of Nicholasville. I cannot recommend it, though I have stayed there several times because I really had no better choice. The reviews on "RV Park Reviews" are pretty accurate. The last time we stayed at Camp on the Kentucky which is near Versailles. It was better than Camp Nelson but still somewhat marginal and requiring travel on remote roadways.

The reason I have not stayed at Chimney Rock is that the location is more distant from Wilmore, so I have no experience of that park to share.
