I have never been to Florida with my 5th wheeler and I hear the beaches are really nice. I see there is Ft Walton beach Okaloosa area that looks good and Destin area but I would like to have a RV site near things to do so I am not traveling far to go places. Any Ideas? :@

A bit further west but Big Lagoon in Pensacola is nice. Not on the beach but across the intracoastal from the National Seashore beach. You are also right at the naval air station with a great museum which is free.

You can't beat Henderson Beach or Topsail! We love both, and try to go to one or the other every year.

I would love the keys. I hear good and bad. Some just go ape over it and say it is a must go/see area. Others have said to me 'there is nothing to do. don't bother driving all that way!' LOL I can't imagine there isn't anything to do. I know I need to hit the keys some time in my life.

We hit the outer banks a few times. Nice!! Would love to get there again.

I'm hoping to get to the keys next year. We will see if I can talk the wife and daughter into it. I'm already getting hit with ideas of the outer banks, DC, New York City and etc.

those 10 days in the Keys sounds wonderful ๐Ÿ™‚

thanks for the info. I love hearing about the little details about the campgrounds. Site 73 sounds like a good one.

I haven't been to the emerald coast yet either and can't wait til I get something booked! thanks

Hi
Sorry for the delay. We were in site 73 I believe. On one of the little lakes. We loved it. It was very quiet, other than the birds.
The road to the beach is no problem. We walked it a few times. No real hill to speak of. Most of the people cycling it with their carts etc. were seniors.
We spent the second half of our vacation a few hours down the road in Gulf State park, gulf shores Alabama. We really like it too!
We had never visited the emerald coast, but we will definitely be back.
Next trip in the fall, 10 days booked in the keys!! With some sorter stays in other ares too!
Enjoy!

That "decent size hill" is not very big or a lot of slope at all. You will have to be in bad shape to not be able to ride a bike up it. And if hats the case, you can push your bike that part. Like I said, my young daughter did it with no issues and she was just learning to ride a bike.

It's no problem for me at all. BUT I have seen several times people trying to ride their bike up it and can't make it. So yes, they are probably not in the best of shape. But not everyone is.

Just back from that area. Stayed in topsail hill and loved it. Sites were spaced out well and fairly private. It has its own beach area about a half mile from camping area. You can't drive yourself but there is a shuttle. Most people seem to have bikes with little trailers with their beach stuff. Because you can't drive, the beach is fairly quiet, and just gorgeous. Soft white sand. We loved it.

we are considering topsail. what site number were you? just curious. I am going to check out a sitemap etc.

Is the road level when people bike to the beach? for ease of it?

little info helps me alot. thanks

We are going next week and can't wait. The path to the beach starts out flat, but there is a pretty decent size hill and the road is curvy. We hook up the bike stroller with our beach stuff because I don't like relying on the tram, which comes on the hour, every hour Lots to do there. Pool, movies on Friday nights, shuffleboard, basketball and more.
