Do Thousand Trails/Encore parks RV age discriminate?

I am a full timer with an 87 truck and an 81 travel trailer. Neither will ever be new again but I take reasonable care of them. They don’t look like beaters, just the age they are. Would I generally have much trouble in TT and TC parks? I’ve read only sparse info on the subject, some being from 9 years ago.

I've never had an issue at TT Parks with my 1996 rig....I will say this, over on the TT Facebook page about a month ago, TT had sent out a directive to the managers at the TT Parks. I guess in an effort to clean up certain parks, they were actually inspecting RV's before allowing them in, (inspecting for road worthiness, fading decals, paint etc etc). There was quite the uproar at one particular TT Park(Morgan Hill, Ca, I believe)....the practice became very restrictive and randomly enforced and have since been removed.

We are at Medina Lake now. Nice park no junky rigs.

We’ve stayed at Country Sunshine, visited Southern Comfort, Victoria Palms, Alamo Palms and Tropic Winds. All have permanent Encore member rigs older than yours. Some are occupied year round and some are seasonally occupied.

We recently signed up for Trails Connection and will be interested in seeing how it actually works.

Yes, I see most Encores in AZ are “age quality” (AQ). All the TX Encores are too. The trails collection adds non-resorts in some states too.

I don’t like leaving messes around so I doubt I’d have any issues with being told to tidy up around my site. I always pick up after my dog, even in places no one is around to see if I don’t.

I’ve seen a 1953 model travel trailer in a TT park that looked like Desi and Lucy parked it on the site. But it was in very, very good shape. And I’ve seen dozens of TT and motor homes in TT parks that looked unable to be moved without going out on a flatbed wrecker.

TT and Encore parks do not have a rig age restriction in my experience, though I have heard complaints in Texas about two parks ordering some of the worst offenders to clean up or get out. TT seems more concerned, at some parks, with getting the long termers to get their sites cleaned up. I think the rigs ordered out of the two TT parks in Texas were unable to maintain a current vehicle/ trailer registration.

Many Encore parks do ‘age discriminate’. They require one or all occupants of the rig / site to be age 55 or age 62 or older. Mainly in Arizona,but also a few other states.

As long as your camping rig is safe to travel on the highways and has a current registration you will have no problem checking in to a TT park. If an Encore Park has a rig age rule, it will be listed in the park information. You can always ask when you make your reservation.

No, you will fit right in at TT parks. Encore Parks are much more selective, and the ones we have stayed at have a 10 year rule.

Admittedly my trailer is currently in “turn away” visual exterior condition (dirty, a broken window, tarped until I have enough dry weather to do all vents) but such things will all be corrected before then. It’s a work in progress. I already patched over the old horrible leaking, broken TV antenna holes. Plus the black water tank vent has been replaced. So yeah I’m putting money and work into making it nice again after horrible neglect. Needs ceiling throughout and insulation but it’s aluminum framing so it’s not rotten or caving in like a wooden frame one would.

Thousand trails is a membership park. If you are a member in good standing they have let you in. In fact if you drive through some of the parks near large cities you will find that many lower income people unable to afford today's rents lease permanet sites in TT parks and some live in some rather unsightly rigs.

No, you would not have any problem in Thousand Trails Parks with the age of your Truck or RV. We have been members for over 35 years and really like being ably
to make res even tho at times we drop in without res and never been turned away
if just for over night

What annoyed me once when full timing in a 78 class B (white, not 70s yellow, and very cool looking retro wise) was an Rv park who’s site showed 20-25 year old rigs in the photos. When calling they had a set in stone 10 year rule. Really? I go post 1 star reviews on Google maps for such places telling they do that.

Reservations are ok with me. It means I know I can get in. I just work around it time wise.
