Need some help planning trip to Dollywood. Received lots of info on campgrounds ect. What is the best time to go; late summer when kids are back at school; early summer, best time for warm weather? Thanks form all your ideas!
I live in the area and have friends that work there. Good times are before school gets out and after the kids go back. This area never really has a down time. Dollywood is closing 1/3/20 and reopens mid March. Limited operating days are also a consideration in the spring as they are not open every day. Spring arrives here in mid March with warm days and cool nights.
There are 2 parks very close to Dollywood I can suggest. The Ridge and Duvall in the Smokies. Look them up. They are nice parks. Another suggestion is when you go to Dollywood drive to Patriot Park near the Old Mill Restaurant and take the trolley from there. 3 bucks for the Trolley as opposed to 15 bucks to park at Dollywood. It takes you right to the gate too. Just remember to be prepared for heavy traffic depending on the time of year.
Schools here in TN start back up by the 2nd week of August, so if you can do a trip the second half of August and do Dolly on a weekday you should be good. Of course, it'll be hot! But Dollywood has a fair amount of shade and a nice waterpark.

During the week is the best Dollywood will still have alot of visitors but I was glad we went during the week. We stayed in creekside and met a former worker from Dollywood and he suggested that we go during the week and glad we did. Also the trolly will take you right up by the front although we drove over. And this was the week of July forth. Enjoy your trip
