Bailey's Woods is also nice - more spread out and wooded. No pool, but a small playground - it's located right down the road from Bailey's Grove

We like Baileys Grove, small campground though. Carlsville has a great ice cream store and you can watch them milking cows.

We go to the Door 2 to 3 times a year, including a week in Sept.

Peninsula State Park is always our preference but hard to get into without an 11 month advance reservation.

We've been staying at Egg Harbor Campground since 2008. Excellent CG. Mike Debbie are great hosts. Every year they make improvements. They dug out and re-poured the pool for this year. There is a game room with a pool table also and decent WiFi in the lounge. It's also central to almost everything in Door County. Most things are a 20 minute drive from Egg Harbor. The exception is Ellison Bay and everything north of there. But even then its only 30 minutes to North Port.

We've driven through all the others and they just aren't all that nice. Though as CB suggested, with the kids you might want to consider Harbor Village because of the water slides.

Door County is not as geared for kids as the Wisconsin Dells is. Its more of an adult vacation spot, but there things to do with kids. Make sure to take bikes. As said above, tons of places to ride bikes, especially Peninsula S.P. There is a hands on art studio between Egg Harbor and Fish Creek, and south of Egg Harbor there is a small amusement park with go-carts and mini-golf. There are 3 mini-golf courses in Sister Bay and a go-cart track. If the kids like animals take them to The Farm, on hwy 57 just north of Sturgeon Bay.

The wife and I just got back from a five day stay in Door County. We stayed at Peninsula State Park and it is nice. We were in the Tennison Loop and I must say I was a little disappointed but I understand. It appears as they upgraded all electrical site in this loop and there was a lot of brush cut down in between the sites to accommodate the trencher . It was not as private as I have seen in years past but, like I said, I understand that they were upgrading.

There are more trails in the park that you know what to d with. Walking and biking. The wife and I ride scooters and I think there is something like 23 miles of roads in the park also so it was great for us. Some beautiful scenery!

My first choice would be the state park as it's very similar to the Minnesota state parks with lots of bike/hike trails and the sites are nice and wooded/private.

We have stayed at Bailey's Grove and it's a nice little park. Good location with a pool. The sites are decent size, but not alot of trees.

The state park up there is really nice! hiking, beach
Went to a dairy farm tour, that was interesting
And there was some sort of petting zoo that was highly reccomended, but we we'ren't able to make that.
