Hampton Beach NH

Good afternoon to all...beautiful summer day here in Montgomery NY. Had a week (vacation) open up at work...so I took it. The week of August 17th. Kids want to go to a beach so I was looking at Hampton Beach NH mostly because its only 4hrs away. Have never been so I thought I would give you guys a shout. Do you have to pay to park AND to go on the beach? We are 7 maybe 8 so that can add up. That's my main question. Also where to stay. If I have to drive to the beach anyway not too concerned about the distance. Up for any suggestions. Thanks as always...Ray

We have been to Wakeda Campground in Hampton Falls a few times. It is pretty big and has full hook ups. 10-15 minutes to the beach. Parking at spots with a pay station or private lots that are $10-20 for the most part. No fee to go on the beach. Plenty of beach shops and restaurants in the area. Have fun.

Whenever we go to Hampton, we pay the 10 bucks or whatever to park behind the casino all day. you can walk across the street to the beach, there is a small playground for kids nearby and yes, lots of arcade games if you want.

I haven't been past that area in a few years but, as I recall, you only pay for parking. Lots of meters to feed or some fixed price parking lots. There is also an amusement arcade accross from the beach that will eat a lot of quarters.

Finding a campground in the area on short notice will not be easy.

In the same town of Salisbury MA, is Beach Rose Rv Park I have driven by it a few times, looked like a nice little campground and we had considered going there our selfs . Gets good reviews, some what small sites, but clean/maintained. Has full hookups, could look into that also.

Closer to you with gorgeous and spacious grounds, is Rocky Neck State Park in Niantic, CT.

Walk the through nature trail to the beach or drive. Free to campers.

If Hampton beach doesn't work out, you might want to consider North Beach campground in Burlington, VT (which is a city run campground). There's a very nice beach at the park there, and they do have some full hookup sites, and it appears that there is some availability at the moment for the timeframe you mention.

thanks for the info. I need full hookups...as we have 6kids traveling with us. In my experience state parks either don't have them or are in very limited supply. And your right at this time of year odds not good...

Tough to get reservations this late in the seasons. not as familiar with the campgrounds in the hampton area, next beach south could look into Salisbury Beach State park.

Been there a few times, campground has direct excess two 2 beaches... no driving!
